Owned by French born entrepreneur Georges Michel, former owner of Chateau de Grandmont, a wine estate in Beaujolais/Burgundy area, Georges Michel Wine Estate was established in 1997, when Georges discovered the potential of the Marlborough region for producing high quality wines.
Since then Georges Michel’s wines have been awarded numerous national and international Top Gold Awards in the USA, Australia and Asia.

A Family Winery
Georges and his wife Huguette first visited, and fell in love with, Marlborough in 1994. They came back in 1997 and found a vineyard and winery which was to become Georges Michel Wine Estate. In 1999 they moved to Marlborough with their daughter Swan and son Naik.In 2004 Swan joined the winemaking team after completing her degree in Viticulture and Oenology
Georges Michel’s vineyards are situated in the 'Golden Mile' area. This denotes a micro “terroir” renowned as the best in Marlborough for consistent production of fine fruit and intense flavours.
